The two ends support an acoustical string of length 100 feet or more. The fundamental vibration of the string is manifest as a rhythmic element in the performance. The playable range is a microtonal harmonic series.

This piece is the subject of United States Patent #4,248,120, Stringed Musical Instrument with Mechanical Feedback, February 3, 1981.

This piece was installed at the State of Illinois at Chicago Center as part of New Music Chicago Spring Concert, '85.

The acoustic principles of the Electroacoustic Monochord are translated from a string to an air column.

A free-standing structure composed of six barriers which behave as tuned acoustical lenses. Reverberating sound is contained within an otherwise unenclosed space via the principles of Fresnel diffraction.
