As the embryo grows, neural channels are laid into the forming limbs, the
arms, the legs, the fingers, the toes. The highest density of tactile sensors
are in the
fingertips. The fingerprints are folded deep into the underlying
tissue. The neural network is integral to the structure.
There is sensation -- the sensation of feeling. The *thump*, *thump*, *thump*
which resounds all through yourself. The gurgles of bowels all around.
The muffled and distant voices -- one stronger and familiar.
The umbilical pumps into yourself -- in unison with the ubiquitous *thump* --
such that it is impossible to demarcate the separation between surround and
self.
In pre-birth, there is no vision. There is no division between pre-awareness
and awareness. There is only an emergence of becoming aware.
